My name is Paul Merritt. I am a lifelong Arkansas resident having been raised in Bryant, Arkansas (Saline County). I graduated from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock in 1987 and obtained my Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license from the State of Arkansas in 1988 (AR License 4544 in good standing) of which I have maintained the last 34 years. This licensure requires fourty (40) hours of continuing professional education each year. I am also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Arkansas Society of Public Accountants, and the Alabama Society of Public Accountants all of which require certain standards of competency to be demonstrated on a regular basis.
As a CPA I have performed audited financial statements for nonprofit organizations, reviewed financial statements for Contractors, monthly bookkeeping and payroll services for McDonald’s restaurants nationwide along with numerous personal and business income tax returns. While performing these services I have attended many Board of Directors meetings, assisted in budgetary development and maintenance, and advised business owners in a wide variety of issues including Congressional tax law changes and how they may impact the client’s needs.

I have not retired to the Village yet but am working with a financial advisor in the Village to develop a client base to enable me to move to the Village permanently.
Why the interest in serving on the THA Board?
Any association draws candidates from the membership with a wide variety of life experience which may or may not include a thorough understanding of financial data, budgetary processes, long and short term maintenance needs, future unknowns, and events that require a
spur-of-the moment- decision making. From a financial aspect I believe I have these skills in
spades.
